The weather here in New Smyrna Beach has definitely changed overnight from highs in the eighties to highs in the sixties. Believe it or not this new weather change is welcomed and should only make the bite even better in the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon. The winds should start to subside by the end of the week and the air temps will start to increase. With the decreasing winds and cooler water temps look for the redfish to be tailing through out Mosquito Lagoon. The trout will also start to school up and can found in the backwaters of Edgewater and New Smyrna Beach. Shrimp and finger mullet along with soft plastics will make for good baits in the upcoming weeks.

The bite has been good this past week with some nice redfish and trout coming boat side. The redfish have been tailing early and have seem to quit by mid morning. The trout are still mixed in and around the schools of bait through out the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon. The water clarity has been a issue the last couple of weeks. North up towards New Smyrna there has been some cleaner pockets not a lot but some. South in Mosquito Lagoon I have not found much of any clean water but like I said before the fish are there it just makes it a little more challenging. It looks like we will be seeing some winter like conditions toward the end of the week and hopefully this will start the process to cleaner water. I would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 Inshore Fishing Report for the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon Area by Capt. Patrick Rood11/14/2018 We have had a few windy days this past week which churned the water up a bit making the sight fishing a little hard. But after a few days the winds laid down and the redfish got back to showing off by doing head stands. We still have a good number of mullet through out New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon. With the all the bait still holding through out the Lagoon the trout are still chewing well mixed in with the bait schools. We have also had a pretty good snook bite in the backwaters of New Smyrna on a good out going tide. As soon as we get our first cold snap look for the water clarity to increase and believe it or not the sight fishing to get even better.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The weather is definitely starting to change here in New Smyrna Beach. The cooler weather makes for a great day on the water. With the shifting winds and cooler temps look for the water levels to lower through out Mosquito Lagoon and the clarity to increase. The sight fishing has been good and will only get better as winter starts to set in. We have a good trout bite along with redfish as well. The big boys are starting to work there way back from the inlets onto the flats through out the Lagoon. The black drum have started to make an appearance through out Mosquito Lagoon as well.
