With the approaching cold front this week the weather will be turning a little nasty with some rain and strong winds. But after the clearing of the wind and rain will bring in some cooler stable conditions making for a great bite. Look for the fish to be holding on the mud and sand bottoms throughout the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon.
Depending on the water temperatures after this front they maybe a little sluggish early so cut bait and shrimp are always a good choice along with small soft plastics worked extremely slow . Don’t let the cooler temperatures scare you away this time of year makes for some of the best fishing. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394

Although the weather has been a little wild this past week with some wind and rain it has not effected the bite. The bite continues to be strong throughout the waters of New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon. Look for the redfish, trout and black drum to be on the search for food over the next week as we start a warming trend.
These windy conditions have stirred the bottom and creating a new food source for the fish to take advantage of. Shrimp, mullet and artificials have all been working well. Looks like we will have some stable weather for the next few days so look for the fishing to get even better. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The bite continued to be strong this past week on all categories from artificial to live bait. The redfish and trout have been hanging in and around the sand holes as the water temps have dropped a little after this recent cool front.
The wind has been a little bit of a nuisance but if you can find some bait and a leeward shoreline you will find some fish. Looks like we have another front possibly approaching over the weekend and into next week which will only reassure the pattern they have started. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 Recent trips have been yielding some great fish and great weather as well. With the recent cold fronts cooling temperatures down and shifting the wind direction it’s May for some great days on the water. The backwaters of New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon continue to hold a great number of bait fish making for target areas to find game fish.
Plugs, spoons and soft plastics have been working well along with finger mullet and live shrimp. We have been boating redfish, trout , black drum and snook just to mention a few and from what I see now the winter bite is going to be just as good.
