The fishing has been good this past week with grey numbers of trout , redfish , black drum and even the occasional snook coming boat side. With the weather temps on the rise and more bait starting to show up in the Lagoon expect the bite to only increase.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The fishing has been good on Mosquito Lagoon and around the New Smyrna Beach area. We have been catching good numbers of trout and redfish on everything from plugs to cut bait. The winds have been increasing in the afternoons so early mornings have been the ticket for the sight fishing.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 It seems as though the winds are starting to give us a little break and with clear water that adds up to a good day of sight fishing here on Mosquito Lagoon. We have started to get a good number of bait pods showing up on the flats and in the creeks of New Smyrna Beach. We have also had a pretty good shrimp run flowing out of the creeks as well the last couple of weeks so needless to say the fish have had a lot to choose from. The trout bite has been good with many 25" and bigger coming boat side and a lot of them have been sight fished with live shrimp. They have been chewing live mullet and soft plastics as well. The redfish and black drum bite has been just as good with several large schools of both through out the Lagoon system. The redfish have been eating anything from cut bait to ADL spoons and everything in between. The black drum can be fooled on gulp baits, shrimp and broken crab. The snook are really starting to show there selves as the water temp continue to increase. Plugs , twitch baits , soft plastics and live bait are good choices.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 Clients Mark & His son came back to fish with me again this year. Last year we boated some big trout & they wanted them again. Thankful it was a beautiful day out there today & the trout gods heard their prayers.
It always makes for a memorable trip when at the end of the day, your clients can't even begin to count how many fish they hung. Also, makes for a Happy Capt.
The bite on Mosquito Lagoon has been pretty good in between the strong winds. We have been boating good numbers of redfish, trout, black drum and even the jacks have shown up to play. You have to pick your days wisely with winds making tough sight fishing conditions and causing murky conditions. The forecast does not look great toward the end of the week with a late season front coming upon us. But I'm sure after the front passes and the winds lay down that the bite will be on fire.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 New Clients, Tom & His 4 boys, from Chicago had a great time on the water yesterday. They landed some Redfish, Trout & Jacks. Two of the boys, this was their first time fishing & catching. Hopefully a day they will never forget.
