We are still having a great bite here on the Mosquito Lagoon. With large schools of mullet in the creeks of New Smyrna and spreading south through out the flats of the Lagoon the trout and redfish have had no shortage of food. The Snook bite has been pretty steady as well, along with the Tarpon coming out to play occasionally makes for a variety of species to target. We are getting our summer time storms in the afternoons so a early start is recommended to get a good four hours in before the rain and heat runs you off the water.

The bite has been good the last couple of weeks and I see no reason why it will not continue . The bait is still plenty full through out New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon and with great numbers of bait ensures the game fish will stick around. Look for redfish and trout hanging around the bait pods early. We have been catching them on cut bait, live bait and plugs. We have seen good numbers of tarpon hanging in and around the intracoastal as well. We still have some black drum holding on the grass flats through out the Lagoon System as well.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 We have entered our summer with good numbers of bait both inshore and off the beaches. The redfish and trout are still chewing very well and the snook have turned on as well. Look for the red fish and trout to be holding in and around the bait pods. I have been catching them both on plugs, soft plastics, cut bait and live bait early morning. Then moving to ADL spoons and shrimp later in the day. The tarpon have started to make there appearance both inshore and off the beach. Look for them around the bait as well off the beach and just like snook to hang around structure inshore. Plugs, twitch baits, soft plastics and of course live bait are all good options to trigger a bite.
Good luck and be safe! Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The bite here on Mosquito Lagoon has been really good with great numbers of trout and redfish coming boat side. We have also started to see good numbers of tarpon and snook showing up daily. The water clarity is still holding well and making for good sight fishing as the sun gets up. With a variety of bait fish to choose from this time of year makes for a great selection to throw.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The weather has been on Mosquito Lagoon and the bite has seemed just as hot. We have been boating good numbers of trout and redfish and some snook as well. The bait pods seem to be holding in good numbers through out the Lagoon which will only increase the chances for a good day on the water.
