With the recent cold fronts the water temps in the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon area have decreased. The water has cleaned up a lot and if the winds lay down the sight fishing should be on fire. Look for the fish to start there winter time patterns and with shifting winds the water levels should be getting back to normal.

The water levels have started to lower a bit in the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon area over the past couple of weeks. Unfortunately, the strong onshore winds have really dirtied the water quite a bit. The fish are still chewing and the bait is still around. We will be seeing the first signs of Fall conditions this week and I believe it will be just in time to start the cleaning process of our water conditions. Look for the redfish and trout to start getting in their fall patterns after the next few fronts start to cool water temps.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 It seems as though the water levels are starting to lower a little but we still have a ways to go. The bait is still plentiful with large schools of mullet through out the Lagoon. Snook, redfish, trout, black drum and tarpon are still being caught on both live and artificial baits. I am hoping for a cool down soon to further push the fish into there Fall patterns.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The water conditions around New Smyrna Beach and through out Mosquito Lagoon are still extremely high. But on the brighter side of things there is some cleaner water to found. The redfish and trout are chewing good when they are making themselves presentable. Throwing plugs early against shorelines is a good way to cover water along with trigger a bite from a cruising red or trout looking for easy prey. Look for the shorelines or grass flats holding bait and target the edges of the bait pods. As the sun starts to rise a little higher I like to switch over to a ADL spoon or soft plastic in a mullet imitation. The bull reds are still holding around the inlets beneath the large mullet pods and the tarpon are still in and around the lagoon as well. The snook bite has been good if you can lure them out of the flooded cover that they have been holding in since the storm. With a little help from Mother Nature the water will be emptying soon and things will get back to normal.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The water levels on Mosquito Lagoon and around the New Smyrna Beach area is still quite high. The fish are still around and chewing well. We currently have a low pressure that has been sitting off the coast for the past few days and will continue for the next couple of days. The pressure is bring a strong on shore wind which will make sight fishing a little difficult but should start to lay down by the end of the week.
