It seems as though everywhere in the U.S there is severe weather conditions either extreme cold or storms. Here in New Smyrna Beach it has been like spring came early with highs in the eighties. The bite has been good with the warmer conditions through out Mosquito Lagoon. The water temps are warming and bait has been plentiful. The fish have been very receptive to both artificials and live bait. With the recent windy days on Mosquito Lagoon ADL. Spoons and top water plugs have been a good choice as well. With upcoming events to the New Smyrna Beach area like Bike Week and Spring Break we can only hope the weather pattern will continue.

The weather has been great this past week with some cooler mornings and warming up nicely by the afternoons. The backwaters of New Smyrna Beach have been filled with a lot of life from bait to game fish. The water clarity is still great and has been making it great for sight fishing. We have had some great numbers of redfish schooled up through out Mosquito Lagoon as well. The trout bite has also turned on as well through out both New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon. The choice of bait has been finger mullet, shrimp and mud minnows as well as soft plastics and ADL spoons have also been creating a bite. As the water temps continue to warm through out Mosquito Lagoon the bite will only get better.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The weather has been outstanding this past week . The clear skies and calm winds allowed us to get some great sight fishing in on Mosquito Lagoon. The redfish and trout have both been grouped up in good numbers in the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach south through out Mosquito Lagoon. They have been chewing well on both live bait and artificials. As the sun gets higher in the sky the sight fishing really starts to turn on. They have been really receptive to a shrimp pattern when making shots from the platform.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 Finally, it seems as though we have got a break from the arctic blast. The weather in New Smyrna Beach this week looks like it could be really good with clear skies and warmer temperatures. The water temps in Mosquito Lagoon are still a little chilly and will take a little while to warm up. The fish have been spread out from New Smyrna Beach south through out Mosquito Lagoon. Look in the pot holes and on the shallow mud flats holding bait and you should find some redfish or trout. They have both been really receptive to both live and artificial baits.
