The weather has finally leveled out here in the Central Florida area with our warm days and afternoon thunderstorms. With this summer time pattern in effect it has also put our fish into their summer time patter as well . The redfish have been chewing well both in the backwaters of New Smyrna and in the shallows of Mosquito Lagoon.
The trout have also been making an appearance with several coming boat side this past week. We have also had a fairly good snook bite along with a mix of black drum as well. The weather looks to be stable moving into next week so I foresee the bite continuing on through the following week. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394

This past weekend was another good week of catching even had a couple days of slams in the mix. The trout and redfish have been chewing well with the occasional snook and black drum making an appearance. We have a great amount of bait covering the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach and on the flats of Mosquito Lagoon.
It looks as though this week we could have a little unstable weather with some breezy conditions so we will definitely be using the wind to our advantage. Next week looks like it should be getting back to normal with our standard afternoon thunderstorms and hot summer temps. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The temperatures have not lightened up here in Central FL with highs in the mid and high 90’s for the past couple of weeks. The nice thing is the bite has not lightened up as well. We have continued to boat several different species from redfish , snook , trout and black drum to mention a few. The bait has been plentiful which I also contribute to the good bite as well.
The water clarity throughout Mosquito Lagoon and New Smyrna Beach waters has been great for sight fishing , making it easy to spot cruising fish on shorelines and grass flats. It looks as though we could be getting some much needed rain this week which will continue to get these fish fired up. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 Central Florida in a whole has had some seriously dry weather this past month to two months making for some very crunchy lawns. The lack of rain has not affected the bite here in New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon. The bait has been plentiful and scattered throughout the backwaters and grass flats.
Look for the trout and redfish to be holding in and around the bait pods as the snook and jacks can be found along the deeper shorelines with structure. Plugs and soft plastics have been working well along with a variety of live bait. The extended forecast is not looking great for any rain but on the brighter note the clear sky’s make for some good sight fishing. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 |
