The bite continues to be good throughout the waters of New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon. We have been boating a variety of species from redfish , trout , snook along with black drum and sheep head as well. The bait has been plenty full in the New Smyrna Beach backwaters. The water temps have definitely cooled down in Mosquito Lagoon and the surrounding waters. It looks like we have a major cold front coming into Central Florida Christmas weekend which should push a lot of these fish into even tighter groups making for a even better bite. Live bait and artificials have both been working well but the key is a slow presentation and down size in bait. I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.

The bite continues to be strong throughout the Central Florida waters from New Smyrna Beach south through Mosquito Lagoon. We have been boating some nice slams quite often over the past week, and with a couple of cold fronts coming in the near future the bite will continue to get better. The water levels are still a little higher then normal throughout the New Smyrna area but the clarity is looking good. There is still a good number of bait to be found on the flats of Mosquito Lagoon and that has been the focus for fish. Look for the pockets and flats holding bait and target them with either soft plastics, spoons or plugs . The live bait has also been working well with live shrimp and finger mullet being the go to baits.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The bite continues to be good throughout the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon waters. We have had plenty of bait scattered across the flats and along the shorelines. The only challenge has been the extra amount of water that is still slowly working it’s way out. With the extra water throughout the Central Florida waters it has allowed the fish new feeding opportunities so look for them to be tucked up tight against the shorelines. Mullet and shrimp have been working well along with spoons and soft plastics as well. The weather looks to be good for the rest of the week which should continue to make for a good bite.
