It seems as though the winds have hopefully started to lay down. The bite has continued to be good throughout the New Smyrna Beach area. We have been boating several species on the daily from redfish and black drum to trout and snook. I have started to see quite a bit of mullet moving through the area and should continue as the months move forward. The redfish and trout have been holding in the shallows mixed in with the bait. Live shrimp, finger mullet and artificials have all been working well. The snook and black drum have been holding in the deeper water focusing on the shrimp that have been running this past week. The bite should continue to only get better as we move into the month of May and the weather should continue to stable as well .

This has definitely been the windiest March and April that I can remember for a long time. With the wind though has brought some good fishing throughout the New Smyrna Beach area. We have been bringing several different species boat side along with several slams as well. With weather permitting the redfish have been working the shallow flats of Mosquito Lagoon pushing small baits and shrimp out of the mud. The trout bite has started to come around as we have had a influx of mullet schools across the flats. The snook bite has been good as well , as they have been hanging on shorelines with structure and bait. A variety of soft plastics and plugs have been working well along with live finger mullet and shrimp. I’m hoping the weather will be settling down over the next week or so to allow for some easier conditions.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The weather has finally warmed back up to our Central Florida standards and the bite has warmed up as well. The snook, redfish , black drum and trout bite has been good early in the morning. The bait pods have been flooding on to the flats early bringing the redfish and trout with them. Soft plastics ,spoons , live shrimp and cut bait have been working well. The snook and black drum have been holding on structure in and around the New Smyrna Beach area. Plugs , soft plastics and live shrimp have been working well. The weather looks stable going into next week making for the bite to continue to get better.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The weather has been a little unstable this past week with strong winds and afternoon showers making for some challenging fishing but thankfully the mornings have been great weather which makes for great fishing. Snook bite has been hot along with the trout and red fish bite as well. Targeting the oyster beds and shallow mud flats in the New Smyrna Beach area has been working well . Mosquito Lagoon has been productive as well with trout and Black drum on the shallow flats. Live shrimp, finger mullet along with spoons and soft plastics have all been working well. Looks like we have a little cooler weather coming in for this weekend but won’t last long. I believe after this weekend it’s going to get summer time hot very quickly.
