It seems as though the wind tunnel has been turned on for the last couple of weeks here in the New Smyrna Beach area. With all the wind that we have received it has really churned the water up in the shallows of Mosquito Lagoon. I have also noticed that the wind has pushed a lot of the bait out of Mosquito Lagoon and New Smyrna Beach area making for a little harder bite. Looking at the forecast for the next few days it looks like things could be calming down and hopefully getting back to normal here in the New Smyrna Beach area.

With the official start of fall right around the corner it sure does not feel like it hear in the New Smyrna Beach area. We have a mullet run in full swing throughout New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon. With the increase of bait in the area the bite has been good. We do have some dirty water in Mosquito Lagoon do to the high winds the past few days. I’m foreseeing the winds laying down in the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon area over the next few days and things getting back to normal.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 With a close call last week from Hurricane Dorian scraping the Florida East Coast things seem to be back to normal here in New Smyrna Beach. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Bahamas and hope for a speedy recovery. Dorian did bring a influx of water into New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon which spread the fish out for a couple of days. Water levels seem to be back to normal throughout Mosquito Lagoon and the fishing as well. We still have a good number of tarpon and snook in the New Smyrna Beach area along with a good redfish and trout bite throughout Mosquito Lagoon.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The fishing has been good this past week in the New Smyrna Beach area with many snook and redfish coming boat side. The fishing has also been good throughout Mosquito Lagoon as well with a great trout and redfish bite. Unfortunately we have a category 4 Hurricane approaching us here in New Smyrna Beach which will bring a strong tidal surge. Mosquito Lagoon will also see a massive influx of water as well but should reside with in a few days and hopefully take some of the dirty water with it. Everyone in the path of Dorian good luck and be safe.
