Here we are at the end of October and the air temps are still reaching 90 degrees in New Smyrna Beach. With the shifting winds last week we are back to having higher then normal water conditions through out New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon. The water clarity has been good in the North end of Mosquito Lagoon and New Smyrna Beach waters. The middle and south lagoon is still really dirt and makes it hard for sight fishing. We do still have a good amount of bait flowing through from New Smyrna Beach south throughout Mosquito Lagoon. The redfish, trout , flounder and snook are still willing to play and have actually had several days this past week with slams.

The New Smyrna Beach waters have been loaded with finger mullet and the fish have been in the middle of them. Mosquito lagoon has started to empty a lot of this water that has been here since the storm and the flats are coming alive again. The snook, redfish and tarpon are still hanging around the intracoastal through New Smyrna Beach. There has also been a good redfish and trout bite south throughout Mosquito Lagoon along with some flounder in the mix.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The water has been extremely high in New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon this past week. We have had high water from Dorian still hanging around but east winds , days of rain and full moon tide swing just helped the cause. The fish are still around but just spread out a bit in Mosquito Lagoon. We do still have a good bite in the New Smyrna Beach area around the jetties and docks.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 We have had some windy and rainy conditions in the New Smyrna Beach area the last couple of days. It looks as though we should be getting a break in the weather with in the next few days. I have still managed to get out on mosquito Lagoon the last few days and have some clients wet a line. The water is still high throughout New Smyrna Beach and into mosquito Lagoon causing the fish to be in areas they usually can not access. We are still catching trout, redfish and snook throughout the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon waters.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 It was busy this past week fishing New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon. I spent a few days north in the New Smyrna Beach area boating several redfish and Jacks. As the weekend approached the boat traffic increased in the New Smyrna Beach area so we slipped into the backwaters of Mosquito Lagoon to avoid the pressure. We had a little front push down on the state the other day bringing increased winds but the forecast looks good for the latter part of the week.
