The bite continues to be steady throughout the waters of New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon. The bait has been plentiful scattered both in the backwaters and on the flats. Look for the trout, redfish and snook in and around the bait pods. Both artificial and live bait have been working well.
Plugs and spoons early then moving to soft plastics backed up by some some live shrimp or mullet as well. The wind has definitely been a force to play with this past week but it has also allowed the fish to not be on edge making it easier to get shots on them. The weather looks to be good for the most part this up coming week which should just reassure the bite. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394

A late season cold front has brought in some much needed rain but also a lot of wind this past week. Wind gust of 20 mph has not made for some fun conditions on the water . It looks as though things will be calming down and getting back to normal by the end of the week.
Even with the unwanted conditions the bite continues to stay strong throughout the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon waters. The bait has been plentiful on the flats and the game fish have been taking full advantage of that. We also had a nice run of shrimp this past week giving these fish another food source to gorge themselves on. The redfish and trout have been hanging in and around the schools of bait and the snook and black drum holding in the deeper water. Live bait and artificials have both been working well to get the bites. Look for this bite to only get better as this weather continues to move past our state. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 I believe here in Central FL we have skipped spring and gone straight into Summer. It has been hot and looking at the extended forecast it’s here to stay for a while. The cool thing is the bite has also been hot the last few days and should continue. The snook, trout and redfish have been cooperating well from New Smyrna Beach south through Mosquito Lagoon. It seems as though finding the bait is the key , where the bait has been the fish have not been too far away. Shrimp , mullet and cut bait have all been working well along with plugs early then moving to spoons and soft plastics.
