The fishing in and around the New Smyrna Beach waters has been good and should not be slacking off anytime soon. We have had variety of fish both in the intracoastal and the backwaters of Mosquito Lagoon. Look for jacks , tarpon and several other species cruising in the bait pods throughout the intracoastal. The shallow water bite has also been good with several snook, redfish and trout coming boat side this past week. The bait has been plentiful from New Smyrna south through Mosquito Lagoon allowing easy meals for game fish. Live bait has been working well and matching the hatch has been even better. Plugs and spoons have also been getting the job done in the early mornings but has been slowing down on artificial as the water starts to warm later in the day. The forecast for the next week looks to be good so the bite should continue to be good.

The bite continues to be strong this past week with six days straight of inshore slams. The snook , redfish and trout have all been cooperating on the daily. The bait continues to flood the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach and throughout Mosquito Lagoon. The artificial bite has been strong in the early morning and then as the sun gets higher the artificial bite starts to slack off. The live bait bite has been steady through the morning and by mid day the bite all together has been slowing down . We have also started getting our standard afternoon thunderstorms by late afternoon everyday as well. The bite should continue to be good as the extended forecast looks to be stable for next week.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The backwaters of New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon have been filled with life this past week. We have had a great number of bait spread out through the area making for some very excited fish. I have had multiple days of slams in the past week with most slams consisting of redfish, trout and snook but there have also been a black drum slip in the mix as well. So needless to say the weather has not been the only thing hot in the New Smyrna Beach area the bite has been as well . The weather looks to be good for the upcoming weeks ahead and the bite will only continue to be good.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The bite continues to be good throughout the New Smyrna Beach waters. The trout are still chewing well along with the redfish as well. The bait pods can be found from the south end of Mosquito Lagoon north through the backwaters of New Smyrna. Focus on the bait pods early as they will be scattered up on the shallow flats and then moving off the shallows as the sun starts to heat up the water. Plugs, soft plastic , spoons and a variety of live baits have all been working well. The Central Florida showers have started to make their appearances in the afternoons and will probably continue this routine through the end of summer.
