We have had a steady bite here in the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach this past week. The bite has also been good through out Mosquito Lagoon as well with several redfish and trout coming boat side the past couple of weeks. We still have scattered bait through out the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon area making it a holding area for our game fish. The trout, redfish and snook have all been very receptive to both live bait and artificials. It looks like we will be hit by another front this coming week so look for a couple days of windy conditions on the water in the New Smyrna Beach area but should not last long. The bite should be back to normal after the front passes.

By the looks of the weather here in New Smyrna Beach it seems as though winter does not want to leave. We started to have some nice weather last week and as quick as it came it has left. We have had some pretty windy days on Mosquito Lagoon lately making it a little harder to sight fish. The trout and redfish have been chewing well on live bait and cut bait through out Mosquito Lagoon. A little further north in New Smyrna Beach the flounder and snook have been very receptive as well on the right tide. It looks like the weather will be getting better as the week moves forward.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The weather in New Smyrna Beach has been outstanding this past week and looks to be continuing through this week as well. The water conditions on Mosquito Lagoon has been outstanding also giving way to some great sight fishing the past few days. The redfish and trout both have been very receptive to all kinds of bait both artificial and live. I believe Spring is in full affect in the New Smyrna Beach area with the surrounding waters of Mosquito Lagoon filled with both bait and game fish activity.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The last couple of weeks of weather in New Smyrna Beach has been a roller coaster ride to say the least. We have gone from cool air temps and windy conditions to mid 80’s and no wind. This unbalanced weather has thrown the fish in Mosquito Lagoon for a temporary loop. The shift in winds has made for higher water conditions throughout Mosquito Lagoon allowing you to fish areas that you normally could not access. The bite has been good on both artificial‘ sand live bait. The trout and redfish have been receptive to plugs, soft plastics and ADL Spoons. They have also been chewing well on live bait like finger mullet, mud minnows and shrimp. It looks like we are heading into a couple of days of a cold front with strong winds and cool temps but should not last long and will only make the bite better.
