New Smyrna Beach fishing has been on fire this past month and will only continue to be good. We have had a consistent trout and redfish bite south through Mosquito Lagoon. The weather has been extremely hot but with the early morning breeze it has been making for a steady bite. Look for the large amount bait throughout the New Smyrna Beach backwaters.
Top waters and spoons have been working well around the oysters and mud flats along with the grass flats further south. Live bait has also been a good choice like pin fish and mullet. There has been a good number of tarpon and jacks scattered throughout New Smyrna as well and willing to eat. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394

The bite has been good the last couple of weeks from Daytona Beach south through New Smyrna Beach and into Mosquito Lagoon. The backwaters and flats have been flooded with bait and all the game fish have been right there with them. Early morning top water has been productive on the shallow flats and north around the oyster beds. The water clarity seems to still be good making for good sight fishing as the sun gets higher. Pitching soft plastics and spoons have been working well but you can’t go wrong with a live shrimp or finger mullet as well.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The weather in New Smyrna Beach has been a little crazy the past few days with storms to heat and humidity. Now on that note though the bite has also been hot as well, not just in New Smyrna Beach but also north into Daytona Beach and south through out Mosquito Lagoon. We have been bringing several trout and redfish boat side along with some snook, flounder and jacks in the mix. If artificial bait is your choice of poison then a early start targeting bait pods on the flats of the lagoon or around oyster beds further north into Daytona. Top water plugs have been working well early then switching to spoons and soft plastics later. I have not forgot about you live bait guys. Finger mullet and medium shrimp have been working really good around the structure up north and on the shallow flats of Mosquito Lagoon.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The bite has been really good the past couple of weeks. A good number of snook have made their way into the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach along with jacks and tarpon as well. We have also had a great bite further south through out Mosquito Lagoon targeting redfish on shallow shorelines and nice trout across the flats. Both live bait and artificial have been working well . Throwing plugs up north in the New Smyrna Beach area around the oyster bars has been creating a great bite early. Moving to a spoon later in the day has also worked out great. If fishing south in Mosquito Lagoon look for the pods of bait and work around them with the same baits. It looks like we could be seeing some unstable weather in the next few days so definitely keep a eye on the forecast.
