This bite throughout New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon continues to be strong. We have been boating great numbers of nice trout and redfish along with snook in the mix as well. The bait continues to be in thick throughout the backwaters and Mosquito Lagoon. Getting on the water early has definitely been the trick as the bite starts to fade as the heat increases. Both artificial’s and live bait have been producing bites. The summer time pattern is in full affect with showers arriving by mid day so once again early starts are the key.

As these afternoon thunderstorms continue to flare up from New Smyrna Beach south through Mosquito Lagoon getting out early has been the trick. The bite has definitely been an earlier bite and tapering off by mid day. The bait continues to be holding in great numbers throughout the New Smyrna Beach waters . Both artificial’s and live bait have been working well.
Plugs and soft plastics have been producing some great trout and snook bites early then moving over to spoons and flukes later in the morning for redfish. Live bait like shrimp , mullet and pin fish have all been working well to bring several different species boat side. It looks as though this weather pattern of afternoon storms is here to stay for a while so focusing on the morning bite is best. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The bite continues to be strong throughout the New Smyrna Beach back waters and Mosquito Lagoon. We have been boating several different species from snook , black drum ,trout and redfish just to mention a few . They have been eating in the mornings and then picking back up in the early evenings as the water temps are cooler at these times. They are still holding to the summer time pattern , look for the bait in the shallows early then moving to the deeper edges of the flats as the sun continues to get higher.
Plugs , spoons and soft plastics have been working but live bait has definitely been a little more receptive. The weather looks to be good for the rest of the week with clear in the mornings and afternoon showers toward the evenings. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The bite continues to be strong throughout the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon waters. Even though it seems like we have been living on the face of the sun this past week , with heat index over 100 it has definitely not effected the fish. It has although made them chew early and start slacking off by mid morning as the heat starts up.
The bait pods are still in great numbers throughout the backwaters and where there’s bait the fish can be found. Plugs and soft plastics early have been working well then moving over to live bait or spoons to finish out the morning. It looks as though we are now into our summer time pattern and the fish will continue to chew, if you want a constant bent rod this is the time to be out there. The forecast looks good for the up coming week with clear skies early and possible afternoon thunderstorms to cool the evening. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 |
