The weather has not been the only thing hot lately here in New Smyrna Beach the bite has been as well. The Bait has shown up in full swing and the fish have followed. We have been bringing several trout and redfish boat side this past week along with several other species. They have been chewing well on live bait but also very receptive to plugs and a ADL spoon after the sun gets high. The water clarity is a little murky in some places do to the never ending rain we have had lately but there is still some clean patches for good sight fishing.

I really do not want to jinx all of us but it looks like there might be a break in this rainy weather coming . The only bad thing is I just finished my Ark . We have obviously had a lot of fresh water over the past week implemented into the Lagoon. The bait has shown up in good numbers and the bite has been good as well. Hopefully the the water clarity continues after all of this rain but only time will tell.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 This past week on Mosquito Lagoon was great time for both myself and my clients. We brought several fish boat side and the bite was hot. The bait has started to show up through out the Lagoon from New Smyrna Beach south to Whale Tail. There is still some nice pods of redfish out there and they have been chewing well. You can sight fish them with shrimp and artificials or set up on a flat with cut bait or mullet. The trout bite has been good as well. We have been catching several good ones on plugs early in the morning . Then as the temperature starts to heat up moving over to live bait. Target the bait pods and you will find all kinds of life from trout and redfish to lady fish and jacks. It looks like this coming weeks weather is going to be a wash out with a low pressure sitting over the state. I believe once this system passes the bite will get right back at it.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The bite in New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon has increased and looks to only get better in the coming weeks. The winds have not left us alone for quite sometime but we have just learned to use them to our advantage. I am starting to see small signs of bait showing up which is a great welcome. With the increase of bait look for the trout and redfish bite to really turn on in the month to come. The black drum can still be found through out the Lagoon and an occasional snook or two have also made an appearance.
