The bite is still steady through out Mosquito Lagoon. We have been catching a good number of trout and redfish along with the occasional black drum and snook. The bite in the New Smyrna Beach area has also been good as well. With the mullet run moving into New Smyrna Beach the redfish, snook and tarpon are around in good numbers. Snook season opens back up next week so look for a influx of anglers on the water.

It seems as though this past month has been the month of heat and moisture in New Smyrna Beach. We have had some kind of rain almost every day on Mosquito Lagoon and before the rain hits it feels like Africa. With all of this weather we have had though both mosquito Lagoon and the waters of New Smyrna Beach have producing some good days of fishing. The tarpon, jacks, blue fish and snook are still scattered through New Smyrna Beach and the redfish, trout and black drum are chewing in Mosquito Lagoon.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The fishing has been good through out Mosquito Lagoon and New Smyrna Beach waters. We have had good numbers of trout and redfish come boat side in Mosquito Lagoon. The tarpon have been making an appearance in the New Smyrna Beach area along with a good number of jacks and blue fish. The snook bite has been pretty steady as well the last couple of weeks and should continue to be for a while. We still have plenty of bait moving through the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon area allowing our game fish a steady meal train.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 With the recent new moon and a lot of showers in the New Smyrna Beach area the water levels have been extremely high. With the higher dirty water the bite has slowed down a bit. The water clarity in Mosquito Lagoon has been a little dirty do to the influx of fresh water and afternoon winds. The fish are still around but just scattered along shorelines in the back waters of New Smyrna Beach and across the flats through out Mosquito Lagoon. Look for the bait pods and target the edges. If you’re looking for some fun the Jacks and blue fish have invaded New Smyrna Beach around the docks and sea walls.
