Memorial Day is an important day in America. It’s a day to give thanks, to pay tribute and to remember those who gave their lives to protect our country. In reality, we should be thankful every single day of the year. Heroes shouldn't just be remembered; they should be used as an example to inspire us all.
Spot N Tail Charters would like to honor these brave men and women! * Sale ends May 29th at 9pm *

Took this little cutie & her good looking Momma out today. We whacked the trout & redfish all day. Yes, I am on vacation and I still fish. But the next few days we will be lost in the woods of Ga at our little slice of heaven. Happy Memorial Day to you all.
-Capt. Patrick Rood The fishing on Mosquito Lagoon has been good with a lot of bait moving through out New Smyrna Beach and the Lagoon system. With the influx of bait brings a good number of game fish like redfish, trout, snook and many other species. The bite has been great and I expect it to continue through summer.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The weather here in Central FL. has been pretty toasty for early May but the heat has not effected the bite. It has actually improved it with multiple double digit days on both trout and red fish . The trout have been chewing very well from New Smyrna Beach through Mosquito Lagoon and also along the Intracoastal of Daytona Beach. Look for the schools of bait on the grass flats early in the morning and as the sun gets up they seem to move to the deeper edges of the flat in about the two to three foot of water range. I like to throw plugs and jerk baits around the bait pods early and then switch over to a weighted soft plastic along with sub walks as the day moves on. Live bait is always a good choice from live finger mullet and shrimp have been doing very well.I have found the redfish holding on the shallow grass flats for most of the day. With the recent full moon we have had some really strong tide swings emptying a lot of water out of the Lagoon. With the lower water conditions the redfish have been schooled up nicely. I have been having great success on almost everything from plugs to Aqua Dream spoons for artificial, and shrimp to pin fish for live bait. Cut lady fish and cut mullet has also been a great go to bait as well. There has also been great numbers of bait moving into Mosquito lagoon north through Daytona witch has brought the jacks in with them. If you want a great fight there is not a fish out there that pound for pound fights better than a jack. Look around the docks and sea walls of Daytona and New Smyrna where ever there is bait holding on those structures you will find them.We have also had some great numbers of flounder caught in and around Ponce Inlet some reaching over ten pounds. bouncing baits along the bottom is the trick whether its finger mullet or jumbo shrimp both will do the job. Believe it or not there has also been some tarpon starting to work their way into the back country and lagoon system as well.
Good luck and be safe Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The Trout bite has been good the last couple of weeks with many double digit days. We still seem to be fighting the winds on a daily basis. The bait pods have started to show up in good numbers and if Mother Nature turns the fan down to low I can see the bite only getting better.
