This past week was a whirl wind of weather bringing in high winds and a lot of rain. With all the wind and rain the water levels are extremely high making for some tuff fishing conditions until the water goes back to normal. The bite was really good prior to the front boating several bull reds along with some snook and tarpon. The trout were chewing really good as well on both live and artificial baits. I believe the bite will be back to normal after the winds shift and start to push a lot of this water back out.

The bite has continued to be good throughout the New Smyrna Beach waters this past week. The redfish are still around along with the trout and snook as well. We have also had a large amount of jacks and bluefish to target as well. The water clarity in the middle to south Mosquito Lagoon has become very poor over the past month. The bait and fish are still in good numbers throughout the lagoon but sight fishing has become a little tuff with the water conditions. Live bait and artificials both have been working well. Early morning with a surface plug or a live mullet has been productive. Around mid morning switching over to soft plastics or a spoon has also been productive.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 It seems as though the tropics are starting to get active with storms but it is also that time of year. Hopefully the storms stay out to sea and fizzle out because the bite here in the New Smyrna Beach area has been really good. Snook season opened up last week and there has been quite a few boated but most have either been over or under but still fun to fight. The redfish bite has also been good as well with good numbers of over slot fish working their way out to spawn soon. Mosquito Lagoon has had a really good trout , redfish and black drum bite lately. The water clarity has gone bad though over the past couple of weeks so it will make it tuff on the sight fishing . We still have a good number of bait pods flowing through both New Smyrna Beach area and Mosquito Lagoon which continues to help the bite.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The bite has been good throughout New Smyrna Beach this past week. We have been boating a mixture of species from redfish, trout , snook and jacks just to mention a few. The bait has been very plentiful in the Backwaters of New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon area. With Snook season opening on Sept 1st I foresee a little more boat traffic and pressure on the water. The weather this coming week looks good to go catch fish.
