The bite continues to be good here in the New Smyrna Beach area. We still have a good amount of bait throughout the intracoastal and the flats of Mosquito Lagoon. Coming off the full moon this week we have had some big tides both high and low which has been pushing the fish around a little more than usual. As we start to come off the full moon phase look for the pods of bait scattered on the flats and work the bait with both artificials and or live bait. Plugs and soft plastics have been working well along with spoons as well. Live mullet, shrimp and pin fish have also been doing good. It’s that time of year our big flounder move in from ocean side but unfortunately FWC has chose to close the season for recreational anglers. The bull reds, tarpon, snook, trout and jacks still continue to chew making for a great time on the water .

I can’t believe we are already into October . The weather definitely is not Fall like with highs still in the 90’s . The bite here in New Smyrna Beach has continued to be good. We have been playing with snook, trout, redfish and jacks this past week. The mullet have shown up throughout Mosquito Lagoon and into New Smyrna Beach making for a unlimited food source at this moment. Plugs and soft plastics have been working well early morning and then moving to spoons and twitch baits later in the day. Live bait has also been working well and the baits of choice has been mullet , pin fish and shrimp. The forecast seems to be stable for the next week so I do not foresee a change in the bite.
