New Clients, Mary & her two daughters laid into the Snook today! It was her daughters 16th Bday and she wanted to fish for her Bday! My kind of ladies! They almost Slammed out today but missed the Redfish bite early this morning. The fishing has been on fire and the snook are thick! If snook is your bucket list, now's the time to book!
A few of last weeks charter clients while fishing in the Mosquito Lagoon, New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach area.
Capt Patrick Rood (386) 566-1394 www.spotntailcharters.com Summer is definitely in full swing with air temps in the mid 90's here in Central Fl. But the weather is not the only thing that is hot at the moment. We have had some great fishing here in New Smyrna beach and Mosquito Lagoon area. The trout have been biting well with many double digit days. They can caught many different ways from plugs in the early morning to sub walks and live bait later in the day. Look for the bait holding around edges of the flats and you will find the trout.
The redfish bite has been good as well. I have found some great success starting the morning out on the shallow grass flats that are holding bait. Look for tailing fish or backing fish mixed in with the bait fish. I like to throw soft plastics or cut bait to them when they are shallow cruising. As the sun rises they will start to move off the shallows to the edges this is a good time to switch to a ADL spoon or live finger mullet to trigger a bite in a little deeper water. The snook bite has been very good as well in and around the New Smyrna Beach area. Look for the structure and moving water and you will find the snook.m they can be targeted several different ways but sub walks and live bait has been a good choice. The beaches from Daytona Beach south to Canaveral have started to come alive with bait pods. With bait pods come predator fish. They have been catching bonita , sharks, bull reds and the occasional tarpon off the beaches. If you decide to venture off the beach or near the inlets make sure you up size your gear there has been some bruisers out there. Good luck and be safe.
