The bite continues to be strong throughout the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon waters. Even though it seems like we have been living on the face of the sun this past week , with heat index over 100 it has definitely not effected the fish. It has although made them chew early and start slacking off by mid morning as the heat starts up.
The bait pods are still in great numbers throughout the backwaters and where there’s bait the fish can be found. Plugs and soft plastics early have been working well then moving over to live bait or spoons to finish out the morning. It looks as though we are now into our summer time pattern and the fish will continue to chew, if you want a constant bent rod this is the time to be out there. The forecast looks good for the up coming week with clear skies early and possible afternoon thunderstorms to cool the evening.
