The bite continues to be good throughout the New Smyrna Beach waters. The trout are still chewing well along with the redfish as well. The bait pods can be found from the south end of Mosquito Lagoon north through the backwaters of New Smyrna. Focus on the bait pods early as they will be scattered up on the shallow flats and then moving off the shallows as the sun starts to heat up the water. Plugs, soft plastic , spoons and a variety of live baits have all been working well. The Central Florida showers have started to make their appearances in the afternoons and will probably continue this routine through the end of summer.
