The bite has been good this past week in and around the New Smyrna Beach area. The redfish have been cooperating well and the trout have also decided to join in the fun. We still have a good number of black drum roaming the flats throughout south Mosquito Lagoon. This past week has been a little breezy making the water conditions a little murky for sight fishing. The winds do look to be subsiding over the next few days and will hopefully allow water conditions to clean back up. We have had some stronger tides this past week in the New Smyrna Beach area making it a little harder to net bait but if available finger mullet and mud minnows have been working well. Further south in Mosquito Lagoon the trout and redfish have been very receptive to soft plastics and spoons along with a few black drum on artificials as well.
