The trout bite has started to get into full swing throughout the New Smyrna Beach waters. Look for the bait along the bars and shallow flats in and around Mosquito Lagoon. The trout and redfish will be holding among the pods of bait looking for a easy meal. They have been receptive to plugs and soft plastics early in the mornings then moving to spoons later in the day. Mullet , shrimp and pin fish have also been working well when presented correctly. It seems as though the summer heat has started to set in and as the water continues to warm the bite will continue to get better.
