The bait has really started to move into the backwaters of the New Smyrna Beach area. With the influx of bait the fish have followed making for a good bite. Look for your trout, snook and occasional tarpon early in the morning. The tarpon and snook will be holding in and around structure and deep ledges as the trout will be on the shallow flats early. Look for the redfish along the shorelines throughout Mosquito Lagoon mixed in with the pods of bait. The live bait bite has been best but we have also been getting them to chew on soft plastics and plugs as well. It looks as though the summer time weather pattern has set in , hot days with afternoon showers. I believe the key is to get out there early , get on the bite and back home before the heat.
