Finally, after this last little blast of cool weather it seems as though the waters around New Smyrna Beach are getting to normal. The bite has been good with several different species coming boat side this past week. As the waters continue to warm the fish will start to get into their spring time patterns and the bait should start to show up in greater numbers.
Look for the redfish and trout cruising shorelines throughout Mosquito Lagoon. Artificials and live bait have both been working well. The trout still need a little patience’s with the slowly warming water temps. The snook and Jack bite has been good a little further north into New Smyrna Beach. Live shrimp and soft plastics have been getting bites around the structure holding fish. Looks as though the weather conditions will be leveling off and continuing to warm.
