With the recent back to back cold fronts hitting the New Smyrna Beach area has brought some much needed cooler water temperatures. The cooler water conditions have started to clean up the water clarity throughout the Mosquito Lagoon and New Smyrna backwaters. The shift in winds has helped to lower the water levels pushing the fish into little groups and pods. Long cast and patience’s are a must with the cleaner low water as the fish are a little on edge. Slow retrieves on small artificial’s will work along with live shrimp and cut bait. This is the time of year when slower is better due to cooler water temps. It looks like the air temps will be increasing over the next few days until another predicted front to hit our area later in the week. Happy Holidays to everyone!
