The bite has been good these past couple of weeks with several different species coming boat side. This is the time of year when you can put your hands on almost every inshore species to be caught in Central FL. I literally had a client last week boat redfish, trout, snook, and a tarpon to kick all in a morning. Look for the redfish and trout in the shallows early in the morning in and around the bait pods.
The snook have been holding in the deeper water in and around structure. The tarpon have been in and around the waters of New Smyrna Beach . The best chance with the tarpon are early in the morning as when the sun gets higher they tend to get lock jaw. We have also had a lot of bait moving through Mosquito Lagoon and as you know where you find bait you will find game fish. Plugs and soft plastics have been working well early in the morning as to moving to sub walks and spoons later in the day. Live bait like pin fish, shrimp , pig fish and mullet has also been working well .
