The fishing here in New Smyrna Beach has been hot as the weather. We have been having several double digit days this past week with a mixed bag of species. The trout bite has been steady throughout Mosquito Lagoon along with the redfish as well. We have also had several schools of jacks cruising the shallows of the lagoon as well. Look for the bait holding on the flats either up north around New Smyrna or down south in the lagoon and you will find the fish. Start out early with plugs and surface baits then moving to spoons and soft plastics later in the day. The bite has definitely started to slack off a little bit as the afternoon approaches and I believe a lot has to do with water temps so get out early.
