The bite has continued to be good throughout the New Smyrna Beach waters. The bait seems to be in abundance in the creeks and south into Mosquito Lagoon. We have been targeting several species like snook, redfish, trout, jacks and the occasional tarpon. The artificial bite has slowed down a bit and a lot has to do with the high water temps. You can still get a decent bite early or later in the evening but by mid morning through late afternoon artificials are not the best choice. Look for the deeper sloughs and docks with a little bit cooler water temps and the fish will be a little more cooperative. The bite on live and cut bait has been awesome anything from live pinfish , pigfish and mullet to cut bait has been working well. Just remember that early starts have been best with air temps and water temps rising quickly making for a much tougher bite as the day moves on.
