I hope everyone had a safe and happy Memorial Day. I would like to thank all of our service men and women for what they do and have done to protect our great nation. It was definitely hot this past week and it looks like the extreme heat is here to stay. With the summer weather brings a different style of fishing along with a pretty good bite. As the water starts to warm the bites will be more directed to the morning’s and evenings as those are the cooler times of the day.
They have been chewing both live bait and artificials throughout the New Smyrna Beach waters. Pig fish, shrimp , pin fish and mullet have been working good. Plugs, soft plastics and spoons have also been getting the job done as well. The bite in Mosquito Lagoon has also been pretty steady with a decent amount of bait starting to show up on the flats. As the bait continues to show look at targeting the pods early on the shallows and then moving to the drop offs as the day moves on.
