The fishing continues to be good throughout the New Smyrna Beach waters. This is such a great time of year to fish East Central Florida with all the species we currently have inshore makes for great opportunities. The trout bite has been great in Mosquito Lagoon along with the redfish. We have also been boating some nice snook, jacks and airing the occasional tarpon in the New Smyrna Beach backwaters. The bite has been slowing down by mid morning with the heat of the day shutting it down . Plugs and top waters early and switching to a spoon after the sun is up has been a good choice. Live bait from shrimp to mullet has been a good choice as well. We still have a lot of bait scattered through out the backwaters and the bite should continue stay good.
