New Smyrna Beach,Mosquito Lagoon and Daytona Fl Fishing Report.
If you have been on or around Mosquito Lagoon lately then you have seen or at leads heard about the water clarity. The sight fishing is still in affect but only in skinny water. Look for tailing redfish early up shallow milling around on the grass. As the sun gets up higher they are following the bait pods to the edges of the flat. This is a great time of year to get them on artificial from top waters to Aqua Dream Spoons and also a variety of soft plastics. Live bait is always a good go to as well from cut bait to shrimp they have been chewing pretty good on all of it.The trout bite is starting to kick off pretty good if you find the bait pods you will find the trout. Plugs, live finger mullet and shrimp under a popping cork has been very productive. We also have great numbers of black drum in the lagoon system from New Smyrna Beach south to Haulover Canal. Shrimp and broken blue crab on the bottom has been working well to entice a bite from these fellas. The snook bite has steadily been increasing as the water temps have started to warm. There has been some quality fish caught in the north lagoon and New Smyrna area. I like to use a weighted soft plastic and twitch baits around structure focusing on the structure that is holding bait.
Good luck and be safe.
