Dec 2014
Here we are again with another year almost to an end , it feels as though this year just started but I guess the old saying is time flys when youare having fun. We have had a very good bite from Daytona Beach south to Titusville . The flounder ,redfish and trout have been chewing well up north around Edgewater and New Smyrna on both live and artificial baits. Look for the the redfish and trout to be holding on the oyster beds and in the sand holes gathering the warmth from the bottom. The flounder can be found holding on the mud flats looking for a opportunist feed. I like to throw live shrimp and finger mullet along with cut bait this time of year. For artificial you can not go wrong with a Aqua Dream spoon or small soft plastic as in Gulp or Bass Assassin . As we head south into Mosquito Lagoon the bite continues to be good with gin clear water making it easy for sight fishing the sand pot holes through out the lagoon system . The water is still abnormally high for this time of year but I foresee it emptying out soon and producing the large schools of fish that we are use to seeing this time of year. For some reason it has seemed that the winds have not gave us to much of a break this winter but when dealt lemons make lemonade out of them. I have been setting up drifts with the wind to cover flats with sand holes and have been doing well. Good luck and be safe. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394
