As Fall is upon us here in New Smyrna Beach the bite will start to change a little. The water temps will start to lower especially in Mosquito Lagoon and certain baits will move out. In the upcoming weeks I’m sure we will start to see a shift in wind directions with approaching cold fronts and this will change the tactics you use on Mosquito Lagoon. Fall , Winter and Spring is a awesome time of year to fish the New Smyrna Beach area. The water will clean up greatly and the sight fishing becomes outstanding. Right now we still have a good number of bait pods through out the Lagoon and the water temps are still quite warm. After the passing of the hurricane on our west coast last week I noticed there was a few days of inconsistent wind directions here on the East Coast. I believe those differences in winds for a few days caused a tough bite. But now that everything is back to normal the fish seem to be happy again and chewing well.
