We have had some summer time weather this past week with warm temperatures and rain throughout the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon area. The bite has continued to be strong but should be even better moving into next week with a supposed approaching cold front . The bait is still scattered across the flats and backwaters of Daytona Beach , New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon. They have been very receptive to both live bait and artificials this past week with finger mullet being the bait of choice.

As Fall is trying to decide if it wants to make an appearance here in the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon area the fish seem to not care. The bite continues to be turned up from Daytona Beach south through the Mosquito Lagoon with several redfish, trout and snook coming boat side. The bait continues to be plentiful throughout the waters and the fish are mixed in the middle of them . The weather looks to be stable throughout the week and possible cool down into next which will only secure the bite.
Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 After all this rain and weather that had been sitting on New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach the past week and a half or so we have finally got a break. The weather looks to be great for the next up coming week and the fishing has been which makes it even better.
The water level is still a little high but the bait has just moved further up and the fish have followed. Spoons , plugs and soft plastics have been working along with cut bait , live mullet and pinfish. Fall is here in New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon and the bite has followed . Don’t miss out on the weather and the bite. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 The weather here in the New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach area has been a little challenging this past week . We have had gusty winds with constant onshore squalls making for some not so enjoyable conditions on the water. Tucking in and around the islands throughout Mosquito Lagoon has been the key when the conditions even allowed us to get out.
The good news is it looks to be clearing out within the next few days which should make for a great bite throughout Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon waters. There will be an influx of water after a full moon tide and on shore wind so look for the bait and the fish to be holding on top of the bars and shallow flats . Live finger mullet and pinfish along with spoons, plugs and soft plastics will all work great to trigger a constant bite. Capt Patrick Rood www.spotntailcharters.com (386)566-1394 |
